BUT FIRST - PAY YOUR $50 TAX-DEDUCTIBLE 2023-24 CLASS DUES !!!

*REMEMBER - CLASS DUES ARE COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM ANNUAL GIVING! Dues not only constitute a pledge of your continuing membership and engagement in the Class of 1986, but they also subsidize off-year Reunions events, both in person and virtually, both in Princeton and around the globe. They also help us to include classmates who might otherwise be unable to go back to "the best old place of all".

The matching challenge may be over, but it's never too late to pay your dues. We will continue to go green, so no more dues requests in the mail. Please take a moment to pay your $50 tax deductible class dues. Just sign in to the class website and click Class Dues.

If you prefer to mail a check, make it payable to Princeton Class of 1986 and mail to

Els Paine, 415 Ridgeview Road, Princeton, NJ 08540

AND SECOND - UPDATE YOUR TIGERNET PROFILE!!!

We send all Class communications through Tigernet 2.0, so if you would like to receive them at a different email address, or change your subscription settings, you must make the changes HERE yourself. Unfortunately, we can't do it for you.

We're always looking for fun facts about classmates for Class Notes in the PAW. Please let us know if you have something unusual, exciting, or noteworthy going on in your life!

You can submit news HERE.

Please let us know if there's an event in your area that you'd like to invite classmates to attend. We'll include in in a future newsletter!

Reading Glasses Book Club

Sunday, March 3 at 8:00 - 9:00 EST!!!

Join Leslie Tucker '86 and Henry Horenstein

(working photographer and Rhode Island School of Design alumnus - where he also serves as Professor of Photography)

to learn about their new book, We Sort of People.

Photographer Henry Horenstein and Leslie Tucker began working together in 1997 when Tucker invited Horenstein to Maryland to document her family. The project started as a genealogical search for a family whose roots stretched back to the early 1700s and the founding of the first Catholic colony. It grew into a mystery about the multi-ethnic origins of America, and became a race against time and preservation as the Wesorts (we sort of people) and their descendants slowly passed away. Henry took the pictures and Leslie interviewed remaining Wesorts. The project is a reimagined Let Us Praise Famous Men (James Agee/Walker Evans), except Leslie's people are not simply reported about; they speak for themselves.

Purchase the book HERE, if you'd like. The discussion does not require having read the book. This one will be more of a presentation and Q&A.

ORANGE LOTUS - SICILY

**SPOTS GOING FAST**

It may be "brrrrrrrrr" cold where you are,

but this is the view we'll be "chilling" to in July!

You may have been to Italy before…but never like this!

There’s nowhere more magical (and occasionally mysterious) than Sicily. Join us for an unforgettable mash-up of everything that’s amazing about Italy - with all of your old and new friends.

Southeastern Sicily is less explored, but it’s overflowing with beauty, great wine, bountiful produce, volcanic adventures, and amazing places to visit.

This will be a Mini-Reunion/60th Birthday like no other.

So relax by the pool, sidle up to the hotel bar, and check into

The Orange Lotus!

Only a very few spots left, so don't delay! Family and companions welcome.

We've also opened it up to adjacent classes, so please invite your friends!

If you're still thinking of joining, please let us know, so we can prioritize '86ers.

Climate Corner

We will post tips from our Tiger experts on how we can contribute as individuals to the fight against climate change.

First entry...

Our Second Annual Virtual Climate Summit:"Turning the Tide"

was a huge success!!

On Sunday, November 12, over 100 Tigers joined us for a conversation with

Professor Elke Weber (Professor of Psychology & Public Affairs; Gerhard R. Andlinger Professor in Energy & the Environment)

followed by seven breakout sessions led by our extraordinary classmates and peers.

The response was amazing, and we plan to continue this kind of programming in the coming years.

Click HERE for downloads - including the full program from the event, further resources, articles, and reports.

From our Environmental Sustainability Chair ...

Thank you to those of you who attended the Class of 1986 Climate Summit Turning the Tide. We were thrilled that so many Tigers showed up to discuss this important topic, and that among the 106 participants, we had alumni from the early 70's through the Great Class of 2026! We would like to extend special thanks to Anni Tilt, Carl Walsh, Carlos Rufin, Charles Wohlforth, Jim Waltman, David Antonioli, Kata Burns, Leila Philip, Lynne Archibald '87, and Todd Laurence for offering their expertise and insights on this critical topic. We left with a glimmer of applied hope that the climate crisis can be addressed through collective action, innovation, and behavior change.

We look forward to seeing you at the next one. If you would like to join a committee supporting future '86 climate events, please email me at ikeeks@gmail.com.

If you are interested in collaboration on climate solutions with other alumni and faculty you may want to join the Princeton Pollinators. The goal of the group is to "connect the talents and experiences of Princeton alumni and experts with scholars who are working towards a sustainable future." Email me or David Stewart at jdavidstewart11@gmail.com and we will send you an invite to the Slack workspace.

Kind regards,

Kiku Loomis '86
